Springboard Academy PowerTalk - 'How to Get Promoted in 2013'
Seattle, Washington -- The Springboard Academy, a professional development company that helps people work more effectively with others and generate better results, today announced that leaders from Seattle-area professional services and consulting firms are the featured panelists for a PowerTalk on February 12, “How to Get Promoted in 2013.” The PowerTalk will be held at Springboard's new location, HUB Seattle near Pioneer Square. The expert panel will share their tips for advancing to the next level in 2013, including:
- How to identify talent
- Unique qualities firms look for when promoting from within
- How to ‘stand out’ from the crowd
Panelists include Deloitte Audit Partner Emily Rollins, as well as T-Mobile Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Lauren Venezia, and Coyote Consulting (healthcare recruiting) owner Kris Williams. They’ll share their experiences and how they advanced in their careers, and also answer questions from the audience.
“It’s harder than ever to get promoted,” said Myers, Springboard Academy Executive Director. “It used to be that working hard was enough to get you noticed to move up to the next level. Now you need to manage your personal brand, earn the respect of your clients, boss and peers, and diplomatically navigate the politics of an organization.”
Rollins has more than 19 years of providing services to early-stage venture-backed companies through large public companies, primarily in the technology, media, telecommunications, and venture capital industries. In addition to her client service responsibilities, she leads Deloitte Seattle’s Diversity and Women’s Initiatives. In January 2010, Governor Christine Gregoire appointed Rollins to the Washington State Board of Accountancy, of which she is currently Chair.
Venezia has 25 years of legal experience including telecommunications law, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, securities law and commercial transactions. Venezia counsels senior executives, leads strategic initiatives, and assists in the management of the legal affairs department. She also oversees legal support for the company’s corporate strategy, technology, and intellectual property teams. Venezia currently serves as an executive mentor and member of T-Mobile’s Women’s Leadership Forum.
Williams is a 30-year veteran of the healthcare industry. She owns Coyote Consulting, focusing on recruitment in the healthcare industry as well as medical practice development and optimization. Williams is a faculty member at Seattle Central Community College, teaching multicultural healthcare through her LGBTQ Culture course, as well as providing professional development coaching to students entering the health field.
Moderating the expert panel will be Myers, who successfully navigated promotions into the anchor chair during her 20-plus year career as a TV news anchor and reporter.
